  • Why Twitter is Cool

Check out this email I just received.

Karl Rove is now following me on Twitter

Karl Rove is now following me on Twitter

It was funny – I saw this when I checked my email this morning and exclaimed,

Hey, Karl Rove is following me on Twitter!

    My wife said,

    Who’s Karl Rove?

We were just stepping into the local Starbucks. I glanced on the cover of the New York Times, and Karl Rove was featured in the first line of a front page story. I nudged my wife, pointed and said,

    See? Look, Karl Rove.

The New York Times article summarizes Mr. Rove’s career, and also hints as to why he’s been more in the news lately:

Already a prominent presence as an analyst on Fox News Channel and a columnist at The Wall Street Journal, Mr. Rove is also playing a leading role in building what amounts to a shadow Republican Party, a network of donors and operatives that is among the most aggressive in the Republican effort to capture control of the House and the Senate.

Democrats were happy when Mr. Rove left the White House in 2007 and don’t appear to be too thrilled about his return to the public eye.

Anytime Democrats are not happy about something… that’s good news for Republicans, business owners, everyday Americans and the middle class. Great news.

Anyway, that’s why Twitter is cool. Instantly connect to the world… you care about. I’m directly connected to the the shapers of This Great Country we love so dearly. This got me thinking,

I better step up my game, now that Karl Rove is watching me.

Once someone I respect is paying attention, I want to straighten up, stand tall, and look and perform my best; live up to my ideal; project excellence with honor.

Ironically, this is exactly what Karl Rove does (and a few others, Beck, Hannity, Ingraham, O’reilly, Broomhead) to the Liberal establishment. Once these guys aim their discerning eyes at you and speak the truth, the laser-focused exposure on the ridiculous behavior we are getting from these insane Dems in power makes them realize they have to clean up their act, stand up straight and improve their game. Bigtime.

As more truth is revealed about ObamaCare, the Stimulus, and the Dems socialist globalist agenda, The People are wising up, and Dems are all realizing that their days are numbered. And no, they don’t like it one bit.

    Keep it up, Karl!

  • New Democratic Party Logo? How about a New Organization Instead

    Democrat New Logo

Democrats have a new logo. Like it?

    Funny T-Shirts from FeelGoodGear.com

So there’s a new Democratic Party Logo. Some bloggers have poked fun at it. And why shouldn’t they? Our elected officials are mocking you every day with pure insanity. Guys, you don’t need a new image, a new branding. Trust me, the Ass fits you just perfectly. No, what you need is a new organization…

    Democrats for Understanding History.

Instead of doing what you do now, you’d get together every day in Washington D.C. and study the constitution, the founding fathers, and the history of the greatest country on God’s Green Earth, the United States of America.

Maybe a little history lesson every day will help you to stop screwing up our country by turning us into a 3rd world banana republic with your globalist socialist agenda that is killing the middle class.

The poet and philosopher George Santayana said,

“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”

For the love of God, people, socialism doesn’t work! Please stop taking our money to spend our great grandchildren into oblivion!

New Democratic Party Logo? How about a new organization... DUH!

  • Yahoo Search Marketing + Bing = FAIL

Posted on September 10th, 2010 phpguru 1 comment
A day or two ago, I received this email from Yahoo!
    Dear Advertiser,
Last week, we completed the transition of the back-end technology for English-language Yahoo! organic search results in the U.S. and Canada. This week, advertisers can start transitioning their paid Yahoo! Search Marketing account, in anticipation of the Yahoo! ad serving transition which we expect to start mid-October. We encourage you to transition your account before the ad serving transition begins.
    Start your account transition now
Beginning today, you may log in to your Yahoo! Search Marketing account and initiate your transition to Microsoft Advertising adCenter. We’ve created a detailed Transition Checklist you should review now, to help ensure that you’re prepared to make a smooth transition to adCenter, as well as a Feature Comparison Guide, to help you get familiar with adCenter’s features and capabilities.
There are three stages to complete your transition:

Prepare your account for transition to adCenter
When you log into your Yahoo! Search Marketing account, you’ll automatically be taken to a new tab labeled “adCenter.” You can review the Compatibility Report and fix incompatibilities between your current Yahoo! campaigns and the adCenter platform before transitioning to adCenter.
    Transition your account to adCenter
You can create a new adCenter account, or indicate that you have an existing adCenter account that you’ll continue to use. You can use the transition tool to copy your Yahoo! Search Marketing campaigns over to adCenter. Please note that once you do so, your new adCenter account will be active and your campaigns will retain the same status (active or paused) as they have within your Yahoo! account, so you may start incurring click charges for Bing traffic right away.

Continue to manage your Yahoo! Search Marketing account
The last stage in the transition process is when Yahoo! Search ad serving moves to adCenter, which we expect to start mid-October and complete by end of October. As this happens, you should see traffic decrease from your Yahoo! Search Marketing account and appear in your adCenter account. Until this process is complete, you’ll still need to actively manage your Yahoo! Search Marketing account to have your ads displayed on Yahoo! and our partner sites.

Commitment to a quality transition continues
Our primary goal remains providing you with a quality transition experience in 2010, while protecting the holiday season. While we are confident that the preparation work done to date and the transition plan we are moving forward with now will help us reach this goal, please remember that deferring the paid search transition to 2011 is still a possibility if we conclude it would improve the overall experience.
We appreciate your business, and look forward to bringing you the benefits of the Yahoo! and Microsoft Search Alliance. Soon, you will have the convenience of one account, enabling you to reach more than 159 million searchers in the U.S. and 15 million in Canada* on Yahoo! Search, Bing and our partners.
    Sincerely,
Your partners in the search alliance, Yahoo! and Microsoft

Today I go to login (as directed)… and it’s down.

Why am I not surprised? As usual, Microsoft gets involved and it goes to 5h!+.

    Yahoo! Bing! FAIL

    Come on, guys. Really?

  • Apple opens up iPhone a bit and Adobe surges?

Posted on September 9th, 2010 phpguru No comments

Wired is reporting that Apple revised how it regulates iPhone app code. Mostly good news: “opening up” obviously a hint at the open source software movement.

So Adobe stock surges? Good lord.

Ok people, Flash is not open source, Adobe’s as big of a monopoly as Apple, and Apple is not opening up to Flash content… not for iPad or iTouch, either.

In many ways this stinks, because a lot of really cool content on the web is made using Flash, and a lot of great multimedia content that exists in Flash format isn’t going to run on Apple’s devices anytime soon (most likely.) If Apple were to make a surprise announcement to allow Flash content, even more people would buy iPhones, iPads or iTouches if they could run Flash games and cool websites on them, which would make Apple stock surge. Ironic how that works, isn’t it?

I kind of agree with Jobs though, Adobe blows. Most of their software is as bloated, overpriced and buggy as Microsoft’s. And there’s nothing more annoying as a web developer when you have a potential client who wants you to update their website, but it’s all done in Flash.

Good luck getting all the source files to edit it!

For that reason alone, I hate Flash.

But is Flash content doomed never to run on iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch? Maybe not. Mac Rumors reported yesterday that Adobe is resuming work on their Flash-to-iPhone exporter. Apparently some Flash apps created with this method have already been approved by Apple.
